For artists (or writers) wishing to stay on site at Baldessin Studio, we offer a choice of comfortable, simple self contained accommodation. Staying and working full time over a number of days or weeks does allow for a level of immersion, focus and concentration that is often hard to achieve! Not to mention the level of relaxation, creativity and well-being that comes of being free to work and rest to your own timetable, in such tranquil surroundings. Available all year for Retreats, and during workshops. Currently there are 3 self contained appartments available, each with a different character.

The Garret

The attic above the studio, with access via an exterior staircase. Its windows overlook the bush at treetop height; ideal for bird and kangaroo spotting.
It has a friendly, cosy feel with sloping whitewashed attic ceilings and dormer windows. The bedroom has a queen size bed and ensuite There is a fully equipped kitchen, sitting room and small balcony. No internet, retro TV.
This is the ideal place to have a retreat, with 24hr access to the studio downstairs.

The Cottage

The bluestone COTTAGE is a favourite with some because of its rustic appeal.
Situated next to the vegetable garden and looking on to the bush, it has a double bed, kitchenette/ dining room, bathroom and veranda. Whitewashed stone walls, oiled timber, brick-paved floors, leadlight windows; one could almost imagine oneself in a Mediterranean fisherman's cottage. Sleeps 2 No TV or internet.

The Gite

Retaining the rustic stone and timber look, but newly renovated, the GITE is next to the main house and kitchen garden. It has a large deck where you can sit and enjoy the bush close up. A double bedroom, a large living space with sofabed, and a new bathroom and kitchen makes the Gite the newest and most comfortable space at Baldessin.
This is the only space with wireless internet connection. Suitable for people wishing to share (sleeps up to 4) or for a longer or more comfortable stay.

$70 per night

Retreats

Three or more consecutive days of studio access with accommodation.

The Baldessin Press now offers art "retreats" for complete immersion in your creative pursuit, whatever that may be. A choice of reasonably priced, comfortable self contained accommodation in either the bluestone cottage, Gite or Garret

Full 24 hour studio access to all facilities. Come and work, dream, contemplate and rejuvenate your creative self among the gumtrees in the silence and peace. Optional extras include technical assistance, meals and transport to/from Hurstbridge station.

$325 for three days and $100 per day thereafter. (One person only, second person fees on application)
Does not include art materials. Meals available on request at reasonable rates. Free pickup service from Hurstbridge Station by arrangement.
